In the meantime, if anyone knows a source of legacy Prolific drives including the XP driver version 1.5 from a reliable source, please respond. I think they should be able to furnish the driver I need. My next step will depending on Scanner Master's response. The above process has thus far has taken over a week of email exchanges and numerous installations followed by no success. Ive watched many videos and read numerous articles on programming and they are all confusing. I am also using the ARC-XT Pro software to program with a current subscription to Radio Reference. I intend to contact Scanner Master regarding the above discrepancies. I have a Uniden BCD996P2 which is upgraded to the 1.07.09 version. As far as Scanner Master's assistance, they have referred me to BUTEL. The last email exchange from BUTEL is that I need to install the oldest legacy driver version 1.5. After information BUTEL, they said not to use the v2.0.0.19 driver and that they were unaware Scanner Master had changed there Driver Package for the USB-to-Serial cable. The second Prolific driver that is installed is v2.0.0.19. After installing the two drivers, I only see the driver for Windows 7 and not the driver XP that was described in the above text file. The included text support file that comes with the ZIP Driver file describes a XP driver and a Windows 7 driver that will be installed. The two drivers included in the Scanner Master web link do not meet this criteria. Repeating the above, BUTEL has stated to use the oldest legacy XP driver you can find for the Prolifc PL2302 Chip. The link above will redirect you to Scanner Master's web site where you download the following driver package: The link for the driver package from Scanner Master is shown below. According to BUTEL, you need the oldest XP drivers that you can find. BUTEL has tried to be helpful but the Driver Package that they recommended from Scanner Master does not include the correct XP driver for the Prolific PL2302 chip. As an update, I've exchanged numerous emails with BUTEL. Response to FTDI-based USB to serial cable suggestion If anyone has had similar experience and knows how to correct the above problem, please comment. The operator's manual provided on the CD Rom does not specifically address a USB-1 test/setup process, or if something on the scanner has to be re-configured differently using a USB-1 cable. The only option to check Communication Setup from the ARC-XT Pro Top Menu is using a RS232 Setup connection/verification. I have asked for further assistance from BUTEL but have not heard back from them as yet. I get the same response using the other USB ports. But when I connect the laptop to my UNIDEN BCD996XT via the USB-1 cable and attempt to download systems loaded on the scanner using the Main Menu command (Download from Scanner), I get the message "Serial port is not available or used by other software." There nothing plug into the port other than the USB-1 cable. My laptop device manager recognizes the USB-1 cable and says it operating properly. According BUTEL, this driver supports both XP and Windows 7 OS’s and proven to work. With BUTEL assistance I got the correct driver for the USB-1 cable (v3.4.36.247 dated ). Wine ~/.wine/drive_c/'Program Files'/BuTel/ARCXTPRO/arcxt_pro.I’m looking for someone who has successfully installed and operated the ARC-XT Pro Software with the USB-1 cable interface to a Windows OS 7 laptop. To run enter the following in terminal or create a shell script: Install: wine ~/Downloads/arcxt_pro_200_build6_setup.exe Installation Download from here: Extract arcxtpro_setup20.zip in your download directory. NET Framework 4.5 by deleting your ~/.wine directory and see the link above to reinstall. Precaution: If you have Wine installed it is highly recommended that you start off with a fresh 32 Bit prefix and a correctly installed. This will probably work for all Debian based distributions of Linux. This instruction should be followed after all OS updates are applied with Wine not installed. Uniden DMA Compatibility Chart Installation Process (Ubuntu 15.10) No recording or GPS function tests performed. Example: One click up on the VCP volume takes the scanner volume from it's current volume and sets it to one.ĭidn't test any of the higher end functions other than viewing logs. VCP volume and squelch sliders don't read the current value when the program starts and make the assumption they are set to zero.VCP push buttons don't illuminate and are somewhat difficult to read.Selecting "No" finally connected to the DB and authenticated the account. Frequent HTTP timeouts and delays where Ubuntu provided the option to close. Ubuntu creates a nice launcher on the desktop and finds an XT icon to use after the script file sits on the desktop for a while. The Virtual Control Panel (VCP) looks professional.Uploaded and downloaded systems to a BCT15X.
